Hey Guys!

Since going blonde, I have discovered a lot of excess damage done to my hair, and I have been bringing back some of my old tricks for how to help overly processed (damaged) hair and wanted to share them with you. Here are all of my go-to things. If you have any that you like to do, please leave them in the comments! I am always open to learning new ideas and tricks!

1. Vitamins

Because your hair is made up of a protein called Keratin, it’s important to give your hair the vitamins it needs for growth (just like how the rest of your body needs vitamins to function, grow, and work properly, same with your hair strands!)

Obviously, eating healthy is a great way to get your vitamins that you need for your body and hair, but I like to take vitamins just to help with the hair growing process and keeping my hair healthy. I take Natures Bounty Hair, Skin, Nails, click here.

2. Stay Away From The Heat

This one is probably pretty obvious, but heat can be so so bad on your hair, and especially repeated exposure on a daily basis can, for a lack of a better term “fry” your hair! So try to avoid heat as much as you can (I never blow dry my hair. Unless I am in a hurry, I air dry my hair) and since I know that giving up our hot tools is right up there with giving up sugar and not binge watching Grey’s Anatomy on the weekends, so I’l just say that since giving up our styling tools is near impossible, then make sure to use a heat protectant on your hair, and invest in a good one. I love this Redken and Aveda one. Click here. and here.

3.  Invest in a Deep Conditioner

This one is so important! I think that there are some things that are important to invest in when it comes to hair. My two are professional color, and deep conditioning treatments. It’s so important to do a weekly deep conditioning treatment. My favorite of all time is Aveda Damage Remedy Treatment, click here.

4.  Exfoliate Your Scalp

This one gets overlooked so much! But your scalp needs exfoliating because that’s what helps hair growth. I love Aveda Invati Exfoliating Shampoo. I don’t know any other ones that are just as good, so I have always used this one, but if you know any other ones please comment below!

5.  Get Trims/ In Salon Treatments

We all cringe when we hear “Get A Trim” let’s be honest, we hate trims. We hate haircuts. And we hate them even more when we’re growing out our hair. But they are important to keeping your hair healthy and growing longer in the long run! Also, on occasion it’s good to get an in salon hair treatment, just because a lot of those products aren’t available on the market, and you can only get them done in the salon, and they’re SO good for your hair!

Hope this helps!

XOXO, MYKEL ELIZABETH
