Simplify; make (something) simpler or easier to do or understand.

Honestly, I don’t usually do a lot of New Year Resolutions because I never keep up with them because I would always make a huge long list of what I want to accomplish and do that I would never keep up with it all year, which is probably a problem for a lot of people! I usually like to make monthly goals every month throughout the year, and that’s sort of how I keep my resolutions, depending on the month and what I have going on! But I thought a lot about what I wanted for 2017, and I decided that I wanted to make a goal for the entire year to Simplify.

I tend to be an over-thinker and (more often that not) an over-doer as well! I like to keep myself overly busy because that’s how I feel accomplished, and anybody that knows me know that I am prone to taking on more than I can handle! So my goal for 2017 is to simplify things! I’m not saying to stop working hard or staying busy because I think those are good things, but to try and keep life simple, and to find more joy in the simple things.

It seems that so often we over complicate life, and stress easy and over react about the smallest things. I think that when you start to simplify life, you understand what’s important and don’t let the things that aren’t important bother you. From decluttering, to avoiding all debt, there are so many things we can do to simplify our lives, and I think once we do that, it’s easier to enjoy life without so many distractions or stress. I think that keeping things simple even from social media can be hard to do, but it’s important to focus on the here and now, and your surroundings and make the most of every moment, which is something that is hard to do with so many distractions around us! It seemed that every resolution I could think of fell into the category of this word, so I decided to make that my entire New Years Resolution! Day one and I’m already doing great at it! Haha! 😉

2016 was a year of lots of changes and adventure, moves, and stress and I wouldn’t have traded any of it, but something I learned was that I need to keep things more simple by eliminating distractions so that I can focus more on the things that matter the most to me.

Happy New Year! Here’s to 2017!
